Art is an expression of a person’s thoughts and feelings. It is a visual metaphor of what we know and do not know about ourselves and others. A common belief among theorists is that children express what they experience; although, they may not have the vocabulary to explain. In this presentation, Michaele Barsnack, clinical mental health counselor and art therapist, will discuss how to communicate with your child by discussing their art. In addition, the presenter will provide information about what to observe in your child’s artwork and techniques to help guide a meaningful conversation.
